"A Cat in a Hat"???.....Woweeee! Dr. Suess didn't know what he was missing!! This
"Catt in a Hat" is just "drop dead gorgeous"!! (Eat your heart out, Dr. "what's-his-name"!)
Catt and I "met" through our webpages. It was on Christmas Day of 1999 that
we exchanged our first email... and the friendship started to grow almost immediately.
We were both fairly new at webpages and had a lot to talk about regarding ideas for
them. One thing lead to another and we began to "exchange personal histories". The more I
learned to know Catt, the more respect and admiration I had for her. She is a genuinely real and
singularly remarkable person!
Last August, we finally "met in person"... and I can tell you I was not one bit disappointed. Catt
was everything I had anticipated! No phoniness - no vanity - no pretentious airs - just a genuine,
down-to-earth, thoughtful, generous, realistic and a very "solid-citizen-type" person.
One of the many things Catt had told me about herself was her love for "music & singing". Yeah, I know...
lots of people like music and love to "sing in the shower"... but while Catt was visiting with me... she sat
in my livingroom -and without any kind of equipment or accompanyment - just strictly "acappella" - she sang
for me at my request. I don't know what to tell you. I just sat there listening... enchanted - transfixed!! Once
again, there was no "misrepresentation". When Catt said she could sing... Omygosh!!!...can she ever!!
I've heard "professionals" sing without any accopmaniment... and they certainly needed some. (See?..I'm
not an "easy audiance"!) However, when Catt began to sing - her voice was just clear, true and pure. Yes,
I had a few goose-bumps!!
Well gosh... there's just no end to this multi-talented lady. Not only can she sing like an angel, she
is an accomplished seamstress, making fantastic professional-use costumes - she'sa masterful cook - and has more "interests & hobbies" than you can shake
a stick at!
Catt is also a "Survivor" of the finest sort. There isn't too much more that could happen to
any one person than has happened to Catt. I won't detail it here. You can read about it on her site.
Suffice it to say that she has overcome more obstactles than many people ever encounter in any one
lifetime. Not only did she "survive" it all - she came out of it a stronger, finer, more self-reliant, empathetic,
understanding and courageous human being... who has gained much "insight & wisdom" as a result. She also has
a sensational "sense of humor"! Did I mention that Catt is also a double amputee? Well, no matter.
It's just one more of those "things" she never let "get in her way".
I am proud to call her "friend" in the truest sense of the word. I think her life and her
"story" could serve as an "inspiration" and "role model" for many. Do yourself a favor
and click on the link to "The Last Dance". It's a very special poem written by Catt, and
has it's roots in a "true story". You will also find a "link" to her website there... it's
well worth your time. <smiling>
