Looking out into the distance and
searching the stars for her, he says.....
You truly do me honor
with your visits in the night,
My mind can see your image,
a soft blur in gentle light.
Don't go, sweet lovely Vision ~
or whatever it is your are...
Come again, come back to me ~
You're my "wishing star".
Don't go, my dearest "Fairytale",
...or whatever you may be...
Bring your song, your smile, your touch...
Come again to comfort me...!
...and hearing him, she appeared in his heart to answer...
You thought it was the Nightingale singing near your tree...
But truth be known this night, kind Sir...
the "singing bird" was me.
That soft warm touch against your cheek
was not the evenings breeze...
'Twas just my fingers dancing there
as lightly as you please.
And when you pull your blanket up
and tuck it all around you...
In truth, Kind Sir, it is my wing
that I have wrapped around you!
And as your eyes grow heavier,
and peace settles in down deep...
'tis I who watches over you
and holds you while you sleep!
It is no "dream" of fantasy
you thought was just so right...
for I am truly here, Kind Sir,
and keep you through the night!
So put away your doubts, dear one,
and drink from my sweet cup...
No dream is ever lost, Kind Sir,
Unless you give it up!"
And so it was that each time he sought her company,
he would sit back, clear his mind of all earthly things,
and think only these special thoughts to her...
"Starlight ~ Starbright...
Will you leave your golden trail tonight?"
If I'm as still as still can be...
Will you come again and sing to me?"
